Economy's depressed, not me.

As someone who was very passionate about music, film and art, it has been difficult dealing with anhedonia, like difficult, difficult. What happens when the things that keep you looking forward, just fade away into an apathetic abyss? Easy answer, absolutely nothing, "nothing" happens, and "nothing" manifests itself, "nothing" grows until "nothing" takes over every aspect of your life. You start to see your relationships fall apart, you physically and mentally deteriorate, and you start to embody this "nothingness." Unfortunately, for people like myself, rock bottom is the only place where I am able to climb.

Lo Brain Shit, brainchild of 2 (the name itself was coined by the better half of the duo), has been helping me ease back into curiosity and back into creating for fun.  Keeping things Lo Brain, away from external pressures, and closer to the self.  Lo Brain is being curious but not over-thinking, pure in intention and playful at heart.  We're on TikTok too, check us out! Anyhow, enough of my ADHD-inspired oversharing, I actually wrote the next line of the following paragraph initially, then went into my banter, the pain.

"Good art comes from bad politics," is something that I grew up hearing.  If this is the case, never has there been a better time for exceptional art. I found this record in the dollar bin at Amoeba in Berkeley, shout out to the $1 bins of the early-mid 2000's. Had already watched the film and been a fan of Robert Altman, so I was definitely hugging the record and power-walking home. With the current job market an abyss, and the state of domestic and international politics the way it is, I couldn't help but think how Lo Brain'd "It Don't Worry Me" by Barbara Harris / Keith Carradine is. Should give this film a re-watch to see how it holds up to the test of time, but this song sure does.

"The price of bread may worry some
But it don’t worry me
Tax relief may never come
But it don’t worry me
Economy’s depressed, not me
My spirit’s high as it can be
And you may say that I ain’t free
But it don’t worry me"
